CONTEXT: In the United States, there are nearly 9 million manufactured or “mobile” homes and roughly 35 percent of owners of manufactured homes live in communities or “parks” where they rent the lot their home sits on. Manufactured housing is some of the most affordable housing for low-income families in our country, particularly in the rural South. Part of CRG’s mission is to partner with rural families to help them build assets, or wealth, and as such we are committed to serving the families that make manufactured housing their “home.”
The main objective of CRG’s manufactured housing program is to partner with homeowners living in manufactured home communities to help them purchase and manage the park in which they live – giving them access to the security and financial benefits traditionally available to people who own the land beneath their homes. This program is affiliated with a national network of technical assistance providers, ROC USA™, which work to create resident-owned communities in manufactured home parks across the nation.
