How You Can Help

How You Can Help

Financial support from donors and program investors is critical if we are to continue to help people build secure and sustainable futures. CRG is designated by the IRS as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization. As such, your donation may be tax deductible. Please consult your tax adviser. For more information on how you can help support the work of CRG, contact Joe Lake, Chief Operating Officer at 479.443.2700, Ext. 129.

CRG is Currently Accepting Donations and Grants for the Following Funds:

General Operating Fund
In the realm of nonprofit work many of the grants we receive, while invaluable, stipulate that those funds can only be used to support activities directly linked to the specific program a grant is funding. Rarely are we allowed to use grant money for administrative and general program support; yet program support is the motor that turns our collective organizational wheel. Donations to our General Operating Fund enable us to develop best practices in service delivery, maintain superior administrative capabilities, high levels of staff expertise, and help build our capacity as a nonprofit organization.

Revolving Loan Fund
CRG’s Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) is currently capitalized at $12 million and provides short-term home improvement consumer loans to low-income residents in South Texas, as well as loans to water and wastewater systems in our seven state service region and throughout the United States. The U.S. Department of the Treasury certified CRG as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) in 2001 but CRG lending began almost a decade earlier.
Water/wastewater lending was CRG’s first lending activity in 1992 and it continues to be the organization’s largest in terms of dollars of loans outstanding. Since 1992, CRG has closed over 350 water/wastewater loans totaling over $25 million. CRG actively seeks funding to help continue to grow our capitalization. Types of capital sought by our organization include:

Capital Grants
A capital grant is a contribution of funds to be used as permanent lending capital and becomes a part of the pool of capital from which CRG makes loans to small, rural water systems, other nonprofit corporations (like water system corporations) and units of local government. Capital grants of any size are accepted.

Capital Investments
CRG currently accepts capital investments from foundations and corporations authorized to lend to nonprofits.
